Can Eating Help Me Burn Fat
I have been dieting for quite a while now. It was my New Years Resolution. I feel I have done pretty good with it. I am proud of myself. I still need to burn off more fat. My mid section seems to be the hardest part to burn fat off of.
Today I am hungry. Do you ever feel so hungry? Salads and fruit just won’t do it that day. Today has been that day for me. I ate a couple pieces of butter bread with some bacon, then some left over macaroni and cheese plus some fish sticks. Oh, yea, a couple of cookies too. My granddaughter wanted some and I gave into my craving.
Even though I have not eaten a salad today or my usual fruit, I have not eaten that badly. What I ate won’t put fat on me since I have so many fat burning days built up and my body is conditioned to burn fat. I didn’t do a full cheat day, just didn’t adhere to my strict diet.
It is OK to not always be strict on what you are eating. Diets get old after awhile. I know come tomorrow, I will be eating my salad, grapes, and grapefruit during the day. I will be doing my fast again. Come dinner time, I always eat what everyone else does, but that’s it for the day. Keeping my servings where the meat product is only about the size of a deck of playing cards, the vegetables if not starchy I can eat as much as I want, and a small portion of potatoes is very satisfying. Eating this way helps me stay on my diet. It is actually the way I plan on eating my meals for life.
Burning fat slowly like this is keeping me from getting the sunken look that so many people get when they lose weight so fast. I am also gaining a new habit. A good eating habit. I am hoping this habit helps me keep the weight off once I am at my desired weight and start eating breakfast and lunch again. I may always make my lunch a salad and fruit meal.
If you are getting tired of dieting, take a little break off of it. Make sure you know if it’s a one day break or a week break so that you have a goal of when you plan on starting back on your diet again. If you stay on a diet when things are slowing down and you are getting sick of the food choices, then you need to give yourself a day off. I have been reading that taking one day a week and making it your cheat day is great to do. They mean really cheat too. I have seen where they recommend you eating 2000 additional calories a day. That sounds like a great cheat day to me.
Just remember, it’s a cheat day and the next day it’s back to business. If you take a week off your diet, then you can’t have 7 cheat days. Not the kind I just mentioned. That would blow your whole diet and make the time you have spend doing so well on it a waste. If you want to take off a week, then you need to eat things that are good for you, but still make good choices. You will find it may be hard to reach for the chocolate cake or ice cream even though its been a long time since you ate some. You have actually reconditioned yourself to think about eating differently if you have been dieting close to 6 months like I have.
Whatever you do, remember why you have been dieting and don’t give up.

Burning Fat Diet
It’s Friday, thunderstorms are rolling through the area. Our gutters are over flowing with the rain like a rain fall along with pouring out the downspouts. We are having a very good rain that will keep our grass green, our plants thriving and our trees giving us shade.
Too much rain can result in fallen trees, plants being beaten to the ground and just death from too much water.
Our bodies are like the plants, trees and grass. We need certain nourishment to survive and stay healthy. When we diet, we take a lot of these important foods from our bodies that they need so bad. Burning fat and losing weight becomes an obsession. When we diet, we take things like our dairy products, meat, carbohydrates, and many vitamins our bodies need to stay healthy. How else is it we plan on shrinking in size? It has to be done.
Then there is the reason many are overweight. Just like the rain being dumped on our plants at this time possibly being too much, we over indulge and have to later pay the price. Then we end up dieting to burn fat that built up from over indulging.
To burn fat, you do have to eat less but eating from only one food group or eliminating a food group isn’t always a good choice for your body. Yes, you may lose weight, get to go to the store and buy smaller sizes in clothing, but you could be putting your health at risk. A lot of people who are on strict diets tend to catch colds, flu and other things going around. They have eliminated so many of the necessary vitamins from food groups that keep them healthy.
It you need to lose weight, the best way to start is adding more fruits and veggies to your diet. Fill your plate up with the veggies or a salad, then add a little of your starches and proteins. You will be full, eat fewer fat calories, eat healthier food, but still eat a little of everything you like.
Don’t skip desert, just eat a smaller portion. Do you know that the size of the plate or dish you use makes you feel how much food you need to put on it? Get a small ½ cup serving bowl and put your ice cream in it. Push it in there good to fill that dish up. Now scoop it out into a regular bowl that you would have used. It will be a lot less. If you ate the ice cream out of the little bowl, you would find you may be satisfied even though it’s a lot less. You feel you had a full bowl of it and even put as much as you could into the bowl.
Dieting needs to be cutting back and maybe changing some of your habits, but not depriving yourself. You want to burn fat, so eat less fat, but do eat some.
Along with dieting, if able to, take a walk a few days a week to burn fat. You may be surprised how the scale drops more quickly and how much better you feel during your diet than the other times you have been dieting.
Don’t die on your diet to burn fat, just burn fat and live.

No Fat Burned This Week
This week, if I have lost any weight, I will be shocked. I am embarrassed to even list some of the fatty foods I have eaten. We all have weeks like this. Since I have had such a bad week, does that mean that my diet is over? That I will not be trying to lose any more weight?
Just because you fall off the diet routine for a day, a few days or even a week, doesn’t mean that you cannot jump right back in and start again. Why put yourself through all that dieting, seeing results, and quit just because you didn’t diet for a few days.
I have been sick this week. When I am sick, I crave potato chips and pop. That was really my big down fall. Then the cheese and crackers, a couple of cookies, then the butter toast with bacon. I still ate my dinners but I didn’t eat a lot of anything. Now that I look at what I ate for the week, it wasn’t really all that bad. Only thing I really messed up on was my fasting a little. I didn’t always wait 18 hours from my last meal to my next.
When you are sick, it’s not really a good idea to stick to a strict diet. You still want to burn fat, but going a few days without burning fat isn’t really going to hurt your diet all that bad. Even though you are eating, your fat burning will most likely continue. You are possibly eating a couple types of foods you try to avoid, but overall, you most likely are not eating very much. When you are sick, you simply don’t eat much, just may have a craving now and then.
Once you are healthy, you can get back on your stricter diet, whatever it is you have chosen to do, and burn more fat. You may even find you lost a few pounds while sick. I did eat my salad today. That was a good start. Well, I did cheat a little this morning and ate 3 little Vienna sausages. They really didn’t taste all that good. That is one reason you won’t really overeat while sick, nothing taste all that good.
I am going to wait a few days before I take the scale seriously again. Give my system time to adjust after being sick. I do hope to be well soon. It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday and we have a picnic to attend. Would be nice to be able to eat a little.
Remember, your health is more important than losing a few pounds. When you are sick, eat things that will help you get better. Going off your diet for a few days may help you get better faster. Again, the word die in diet doesn’t mean you have to feel like you are dying to lose that weight. Being smart about how you go about losing your weight is more important than how fast you lose it. When you lose it slowly, you tend to lose it all over which is healthier for you.
So if you are sick, or just need a little time off your diet, don’t give up on your diet. Jump right back on it when you are ready and keep watching that fat burn right off your body.
Get ready for the new you.

Does Dairy Products Give You Belly Fat
Wow, when I read an article this week on how this person gave up dairy products and loss weight, especially belly fat weight, I didn’t know what to think.
Do I want to lose weight so bad that I could give up my dairy food. No more milk, cheese, ice cream, yogurt, cream in my coffee. The list is way too long. As far as giving up cheese, that would mean no shredded cheese on my salads, my chili, or omelets. No grilled cheese sandwiches.
How much are we really suppose to give up to lose weight. Where does it stop?
I am sure this person did things other than just give up dairy products.
I do know that for over a year, I enjoyed a large glass of chocolate 1% milk with my dinner every night. It may be true that I put on a bit of my belly fat drinking that. If that is true, it doesn’t mean I should never drink it again, it only means I drink it rarely like I rarely eat ice cream.
Dieting and dieing are not suppose to be the same thing.
If I give up milk along with a bit of the other stuff I have already given up, well, just give me a raw carrot to eat and let me break my teeth biting into it since I gave up my calcium supply.
Ok, now let’s get serious.
I am losing weight and I eat cheese. Not a lot of it, but I do eat it daily. My husband and I also enjoy a daily flavored yogurt as our night cap so to say. I am not currently drinking any milk, but I do eat cottage cheese and cinnamon applesauce occasionally.
Dieting isn’t giving up everything. Dieting is learning to live with possibly less of certain items that you maybe use to enjoy a bit too much.
I am still doing my 18 hour fast daily. During the six hours I can eat, I am allowed to eat what I want, only not over do it. I have lost 13 pounds doing this in only a couple of months. It’s not really a noticeable loss. With most diets, you will see your face get thinner, or your arms, but with this, I am losing it all over evenly. Which is nice.
I actually put on my last years bathing suit today. It is a little too big but wearable. If I keep on losing weight, I may actually fit into that polka dotted bikini yet.
Learn what works for you and stick with it. If you are not drinking or eating much dairy, be sure to take supplements to get the proper vitamins you are missing out on. Our bodies to require those vitamins. Also, as the sun is shining more these days in Ohio, I am getting my vitamin D. No need for supplements now for that.
Keep your goal in mind. Keep a picture on your fridge of maybe how you don’t want to look, and another one of how you do want to look. Most of all, don’t die on your diet. You can still eat and you can still enjoy it.

Watch Out For Those Hidden Calories
My oldest son, he’s 27 came to me the other day and said proudly, “Mom, I lost 7 pounds in just 2 weeks.”
He isn’t really overweight, Had a little bit of a gut on him, other than that, his weight wasn’t bad. He had been feeling a little sluggish lately, so he had started drinking those high energy drinks. His energy level did pick up, but he started putting on a little weight.
Did you know that juices, pop and other drinks that have sugar in them are a big problem with weight gain? Many people will tell you, “ I don’t really eat all that much. If I get hungry during the day, usually a cup of coffee with cream and sugar will help hold off the hunger pains.” I wonder how many cups a day they drink adding those extra carbs of cream and sugar.
Recently, after seeing my son with one of those high energy drinks every time he came to visit, I asked him if he had heard about all the abundance of caffeine they contained. We had quite a discussion about it and what each of us had heard. Beings it was only something that had happened to someone else, no one that either of us knew, it wasn’t taken seriously.
When my son told me about losing his 7 pounds, he went on to tell me how. He had quit drinking pop and the high energy drinks. His gut had shrunk down quite a bit too. Then he told me why he gave up the energy drinks. He had met someone. I guess maybe they had seen him with one of his drinks. The guy opened his shirt and showed him a scar he had received recently from heart surgery. He had been drinking so many of the high energy drinks a day, that he had suffered a heart attack. He had no signs of heart problems before the attack. He wasn’t that old, he had only drank a large quantity of the drinks. This was enough to scare my son out of drinking the drinks.
These drinks are full of sugar and caffeine. The caffeine could raise your blood pressure to a dangerous level. The sugar will send your scale higher too. Drinking the drinks along with pop was causing him to gain weight. He had cut back on foods trying to burn fat, and thought the added energy would help him burn fat, but the ingredient sugar, worked just the opposite.
I was happy to hear he had given up the drinks. Along with giving up the sugary drinks, if you want to burn fat and lose weight, you need to watch out for the hidden sugar in all the foods you eat. I know there are some things I simply will not give up, for example my salad dressing, wow that has 8 grams of sugar in it. BBQ sauce is another one I won’t give up or my honey mustard. I don’t drink pop, I either use a non sugar sweetener or no sweetener at all in my coffee and I drink Mio in my water. I have no idea what Mio has in it as far as sweetener. I don’t eat a lot of pastries or desserts. I don’t think it is necessary to cut all the sugar out of your diet, but you do need to watch it. Also watch out for low fat versions. They jam pack these with sugar to make them taste good after removing the fat.
A low fat diet along with watching your sugar intake will help you burn fat and lose the weight you are looking to lose. I am not worried about losing weight really fast. Seems like when I do that, it comes back on really fast too. It takes a lifestyle change to keep that weight off.
So if you want to lose weight and burn fat, keep coming back for more information and I will do my best to provide you with information to help you.

When Do You Eat?
Today, we are going to discuss when and where we eat.
Many people choose to eat when they are feeling stressed about something. You can diet to lose weight all week then on Monday, it’s back to work, the stress hits you and you are seen raiding the potato chip machine.
There are many stress factors that affect our trying to lose weight. A boy friends stands you up. You are then sitting alone, watching television and next thing you know it, you have a bowl of ice cream. Hopefully not the whole carton like I see people do on television shows.
Other factors that are stressful are sometimes just everyday issues. You worked all day cleaning house, then the kids come home from soccer, school, or just being outside and it’s destroyed in minutes. When this happens, stop and remember that your shelves are still dusted, the dishes are still clean and your laundry you did is still done. Don’t let this stressful moment fill you with anxiety and lead you to the kitchen fridge or cookie jar. You have been doing so well with your weight loss, why blow it now.
Then there is the boss. He or she comes in right before it’s time to go home and gives you this long paper that needs typed out and put in the overnight mail deposit. You’ve already worked all day. You are tired, hungry, ready to go home and get something to eat. Now you are stuck at the office for another 2 hours.
How do you handle this stress?
Then sometimes you over eat and forget you are dieting to burn fat when you are out with certain people, or go to a specific restaurant. Sometimes those cheese fries just hit the spot. Or that loaded Cheeseburger with fries and a milkshake just sound wonderful. If your friends are eating all of that type of items, it’s hard to sit there and enjoy a salad.
Hopefully all of the above doesn’t happen to any one person too often. Our dieting to burn fat would be hopeless if it did. Luckily, we have learned that a splurge day once a week is beneficial to our weight. As long as it doesn’t happen every day.
When the kids come in and mess up your house, is it really that bad. Sometimes when I find myself looking at a mess, it is amazing how little time it takes to clean it back up and get everything organized. We also need to make the kids a little more responsible. If they are old enough to be out playing unsupervised, then they are old enough for chores. Once they realize that they have to go around and clean up the mess, they are less apt to make a mess. My grandchildren are prime examples. They come in from school and destroy the play area in minutes. Then it’s nap time. If they don’t clean up the play area before nap time, then they get no ½ hour of television during their nap. It’s only quiet time and well, grandma cleans up the room. That scene only happened once. I have never had to clean it again. In fact, they are doing a fantastic job cleaning up the mess these days.
Instead of letting yourself get all nervous about the situation, you need to find a way of taking control. If your boyfriend stood you up, that’s a tough one. I use to just call it an early night and off to bed to cry. I do remember overeating too.
The boss giving you more work to do, just grab a fresh cup of coffee if there is any available, add a little flavoring to it and stop at that. I find I can drink black coffee most of the time, but if I am hungry, or stressed, I want the sugar and cream.
When out with your friends and they are eating what you want, just make that your cheat day. Then back to the diet to burn fat the next day. Don’t worry about it.
Last weekend, I sort of splurged both Saturday and Sunday. We ate out at fast food way too much but we were busy and wanted something fast. I gained about 4 pounds back of my weight I had lost. I can tell you on Monday I was not happy. I didn’t quit my diet. Give up thinking this is a loss cause. I went right back on it and now here it is Friday and the weight is gone. It’s not a true 4 pounds I gained, but I did gain some.
Remember, if you do eat the foods that aren’t a part of your diet plan to burn fat, don’t give up. Just start fresh again the next day. Have your cheat days. Don’t make certain foods taboo, just make sure they aren’t daily foods. You will lose that weight and be happy with yourself.

Don’t Let Yourself Get Hungry
That is a dangerous part of dieting. When you are hungry, what do you reach for first? Me, I use to reach for the cookie jar, bag of potato chips or at Easter time, candy. All quick to grab and put in mouth. The problem with what I chose was, after wards, I was still hungry.
What do you do when you get hungry?
Now, I keep plenty of fresh fruit around. I just cut up 4 quarts of strawberries last night. That is a delicious snack, it’s filling and has a bit of fiber in it. After eating a few strawberries, I can actually feel satisfied. It’s a lot easier waiting until meal time then.
My afternoon meal is typically a healthy salad. It is head lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, hard cheese shredded up, a boiled egg, croutons and of course salad dressing. I am still doing the 18 hour fast. I wait 18 hours after my last meal before I allow myself to eat again. The strawberries I like to eat after my salad but if I get too hungry within the 18 hours, it’s not a bad item to cheat with. With this diet, I lose at least one pound a week. Sometimes I lose more, it probably depends on how much I eat during the time I allow myself to eat and what I choose.
Weekends are hard. Thank goodness we are suppose to have a cheat day. I do sometimes have 2 cheat days. My weekends eating times and where we eat are very different from weekdays where I am home all day and cook our meals. Without my cheat day, I would definitely feel the diet more. I would have foods I wanted that others were possibly eating at the time that I would have to refuse myself. That is another reason diets fail.
Letting yourself get hungry and not having something around to curb that hunger will lead you to cheating more often than your one day a week. Having a day to look forward to does help you keep control.
Did I cheat a bit over Easter? Yes. I will admit I cheated. Those cream eggs with the little yellow bit in the middle are just too good. I ate 4 of them and about 4 more of the caramel filled type. The caramel ones are my dads fault. He brought a box of about 20 to my house because he didn’t want them at his house. Thank goodness my husband and son love that type. They ate most of them which gave me less to deal with. I also kept them in my husbands shirt drawer. Out of site, out of mind. I still managed to lose burn fat those 2 weeks.
The fact is, you can lose weight, burn fat even if you do cheat a little, but don’t let yourself get hungry. It’s hard to lose weight if you are so hungry every day while cooking dinner that you end up raiding the cupboards for unhealthy snacks. Then when you don’t see the weight loss showing on your scale, or see an actual gain, you loose confidence and quit.

A Mini Vacation Off Losing Weight
It was a holiday. The one time a year that those cream filled eggs are available. If I didn’t eat a couple of them, I would have to wait a whole year before I would get any again. So I took a small break from trying to lose weight.
It’s OK to take a weekend off your diet now and then. Even a week if it’s a time that it would be difficult to be on a diet and make you seem unsociable to others. When you are on a diet and you go out with friends, it never fails they spend the evening trying to get you off your diet. That is why on Saturday, I went off my diet. We had a cookout for Easter. All the kids came with their families. I did not want to sit there and basically not eat much of anything. I ate a hamburger on bun, a hot dog, chips, mac and cheese and bake beans. It was all so good. I was starved and ate too much. I had spent the entire day preparing for the gathering and hadn’t had time to eat. I know there is no way I burned fat off that day. I had worked really hard, maybe that helped.
My first mistake was not having eaten something during the day so I would not be so hungry. If I had stopped and eaten a salad, grapefruit or even snacked on grapes, I would not have been so hungry. I would have still eaten a bit, but maybe not as much.
That is a mistake so many of us make. We think that if we are going out, we won’t eat all day so we can eat what we want that night. Then we are so hungry, we overeat.
Even if this does happen to you, don’t beat yourself up over it. Use it as a cheat day. We are suppose to eat at least 1000 more calories than a usual day on our cheat day. Now if I would have stopped on that day and not eaten those fantastic cream filled eggs the next day, I would have been better off but, I am still happy I did it.
The eggs are gone, the hamburgers and hotdogs are gone too. Now it’s back to burning fat, or dieting. I am not sure if I gained a pound or two of what I have lost back or not. If I did regain weight, at least I really enjoyed myself. You need to enjoy yourself, not always feel like you cannot have what you want.
Enjoying yourself a day here and a day there is not going to kill your diet. Plan on taking that time off your diet and have a day picked out that you will return to your diet and stick to it. Maybe you could call it a mini vacation from losing weight.
The reason most diets fail is people hate the diet they are doing. Find one you can live with and then be sure to have your weekly cheat day. That way you have a day to look forward to. Don’t make it a couple days like I did over Easter. Too many weekends like that will slow down your weight loss. Then you will get frustrated with the whole thing and quit.
I am back on my diet now. I feel good. I am happy. It was a nice mini vacation.

Burning Fat – Losing Weight
I hope everyone is off to a great start with their diet plan by now and are losing weight. Even though the weather isn’t working out yet for us in the eastern part of the United States, spring is here. Still wearing the old sweatshirts, winter coats and jeans. Summer is just around the corner.
This weekend we are celebrating the spring holiday for many, Easter. That means lots of colorful dresses at church this week and the young boys sporting new suits. The church will be decorated with many Easter Lilies. It’s an exciting week. Also a good sign that even though the weather doesn’t appear to be spring like, it is spring.
Now we need to start thinking ahead. I think we have one more complete week of winter and then it will start warming up. I have told my husband ever since January we would have snow in April. Well, Monday, April 1st, opening day for baseball, snow flurries. I could be right. I hope I am also right about a week from now. Last year, we had already cut our grass 2 or 3 times. It’s amazing how different this year has been.
Summer brings the picnics, the swim parties, and the camping. I am still not ready to put on a swim suit yet. I still have more fat to burn, weight to lose. My diet is working. I have lost 10 pounds since mid January. I changed my diet around a few times. The diet I am following right now seems to be burning fat the best. My husband and son agree they would die if they followed my diet. It’s not hard once to put your mind to it.
So how is your diet going? Are you losing the weight yet. Have you turned on your fat burning by eating foods that help you burn fat?
One thing I am doing is eating a very healthy salad every day plus some fruit. Our problem is we really have learned to eat so much unhealthy food. My grand kids are a prime example. One granddaughter will only eat those little sausages that come in a can. She wants two of them a day with nacho chips. Her brother seems to think nacho chips go with everything, even pancakes. I get frustrated trying to feed them the right foods, but they have learned this from home. Many adults think they have to have meat and potatoes with every meal. Plus sizable servings. Society has done that to us. Go to a restaurant and look at the amount of food you get served to you. I eat a lot of chicken strips, but do I really need eight of them? Plus a loaded baked potato? Check out the calories and fat content. I just ate a whole day of fat and calories in one sitting. Plus, don’t forget the salad and the dinner rolls.
To burn fat and lose weight, we have to see what it is we are doing to make us gain weight. Just because you sit at a computer or desk all day, doesn’t mean you are going to be over weight. It’s still what you are eating. Sometimes not even how much.
Eat smart, make reasonable size servings, be a little active away from the desk, and you will most likely lose weight. Find out what works for you and stick to it. Remember, once you get to your weight you are happy with, continue to watch over your diet. You can treat yourself, but not too often. It would be nice to return to eating 3 meals a day, but I have to be smart about them.
Have a happy spring holiday.

When the Weight Loss Stops
It is so discouraging when the scale stops showing the weight is dropping off. You are doing all the same things you have been doing for the past month or more, but there is no change showing.
It’s a time when your body is settling into your new weight. Everything is adjusting. At this time, taking measurements and checking out how different your clothing is feeling may show you that you are still burning fat. Some of the weight you lost to begin with was water weight. In fact, it could have been a big part of it. So maybe instead of getting depressed about not losing anymore weight, maybe we should be happy that we aren’t gaining.
Water weight changes through out the month for a woman. For a man, I am not sure. I never have heard a man complain about feeling bloated. If your clothing is feeling looser, and you are feeling over all better, then things are going in the right direction. You are still burning fat.
No matter what the scale says, keep on eating the foods and doing the work outs that got you started losing weight to begin with. Everyone hits a point several times during a program to burn fat that it seems nothing else is going to happen. It does make us lose a little of the excitement that we had when we could see the scale telling us we were losing weight everyday. Believe me, that excitement will return.
I am in my little time right now. The scale has been stuck on the same number for a few days now. Maybe that means, instead of starving myself thinking this just isn’t working. I am no longer burning fat so if I don’t eat, my body has no choice but to burn fat, I will eat. I will still eat wisely. I need my splurge day which I haven’t taken in a while. I didn’t want to take a chance of stalling the weight loss. I forgot for a minute that a splurge day will rev up my metabolism and maybe that is what I need.
If your weight loss stalls, then take a look at what you are doing. If it is a good plan and you aren’t veering off of it too much, then continue to do what you are doing. Your body will start burning fat again once it adjust to your new weight. Also remember to take a day off once in awhile. Once a week is best. Don’t deprive yourself either. Yesterday, my son brought in this huge box of donuts. Yes, I ate one. I am not going to gain a pound for it, I just made sure that was the only one I ate and I didn’t splurge on anything else. I did skip my afternoon first meal of the day I was suppose to have. That wasn’t smart. It made it hard to eat sensibly at dinner. I had to force myself to eat the right amounts.
The donuts are still there today, but you know what? They really weren’t all that good. Today I will do my fasting as I have been doing and eat right. Tomorrow, I am going to have my splurge day for the week. Even if donuts are still there, I don’t think I want one. Maybe a piece of hot peach cobbler would be good though.
Remember, it took a long time to build our weight to where it is now, it will take a while to lose it all too.
