When the Weight Loss Stops
It is so discouraging when the scale stops showing the weight is dropping off. You are doing all the same things you have been doing for the past month or more, but there is no change showing.
It’s a time when your body is settling into your new weight. Everything is adjusting. At this time, taking measurements and checking out how different your clothing is feeling may show you that you are still burning fat. Some of the weight you lost to begin with was water weight. In fact, it could have been a big part of it. So maybe instead of getting depressed about not losing anymore weight, maybe we should be happy that we aren’t gaining.
Water weight changes through out the month for a woman. For a man, I am not sure. I never have heard a man complain about feeling bloated. If your clothing is feeling looser, and you are feeling over all better, then things are going in the right direction. You are still burning fat.
No matter what the scale says, keep on eating the foods and doing the work outs that got you started losing weight to begin with. Everyone hits a point several times during a program to burn fat that it seems nothing else is going to happen. It does make us lose a little of the excitement that we had when we could see the scale telling us we were losing weight everyday. Believe me, that excitement will return.
I am in my little time right now. The scale has been stuck on the same number for a few days now. Maybe that means, instead of starving myself thinking this just isn’t working. I am no longer burning fat so if I don’t eat, my body has no choice but to burn fat, I will eat. I will still eat wisely. I need my splurge day which I haven’t taken in a while. I didn’t want to take a chance of stalling the weight loss. I forgot for a minute that a splurge day will rev up my metabolism and maybe that is what I need.
If your weight loss stalls, then take a look at what you are doing. If it is a good plan and you aren’t veering off of it too much, then continue to do what you are doing. Your body will start burning fat again once it adjust to your new weight. Also remember to take a day off once in awhile. Once a week is best. Don’t deprive yourself either. Yesterday, my son brought in this huge box of donuts. Yes, I ate one. I am not going to gain a pound for it, I just made sure that was the only one I ate and I didn’t splurge on anything else. I did skip my afternoon first meal of the day I was suppose to have. That wasn’t smart. It made it hard to eat sensibly at dinner. I had to force myself to eat the right amounts.
The donuts are still there today, but you know what? They really weren’t all that good. Today I will do my fasting as I have been doing and eat right. Tomorrow, I am going to have my splurge day for the week. Even if donuts are still there, I don’t think I want one. Maybe a piece of hot peach cobbler would be good though.
Remember, it took a long time to build our weight to where it is now, it will take a while to lose it all too.

Happy Holidays
I knew it. The holidays would be coming and the weight would start increasing. We have birthday after birthday starting the first of August until the first of February. By the time my birthday comes in January, I am sick of cake. I really just want to forget it anymore. Being a year older doesn’t bother me, but the weight gain does.
I am making my New Years Resolution early this year. In fact, I am starting it tomorrow. It’s back to the weight lifting and the treadmill. Why haven’t I been doing this all along, I really don’t know. I had been doing it very consistently until summer got here. Then we are so busy with put out of door chores and activities that I just let taking care of myself fall to the side.
It’s cold outside now. Walking isn’t as enticing, but when the roads are dry and not icy, I will still take my dog for a walk. He is only 2 and still needs his daily exercise too. He is also over weight. So the walk will be good for both of us.
I fixed my scale, it only needed a new double A battery. Now its telling me things I don’t want to know. I am spending my Sunday late night writing this article so I can put on an exercise program to work out with my grandchildren before sending them to school tomorrow. They love it when I do that. We do simple programs. It’s good for them too.
The toughest thing I face when I diet is watching my husband eat and eat and eat. He is over weight too. Not too bad. He knows it, but it seems like a man doesn’t worry about it like a woman does. I don’t like having a belly. Maybe because it reminds me of when I was pregnant. I was proud of it then, but not now.
I will get it under control again. Exercise and eating right will do it. Cutting back on portions but not cutting out foods. Do you know that you can even eat ice cream when on a diet? Just eat a very small portion. I have these little glass bowls that maybe hold a half cup. I use one of them when eating ice cream. I fill that little dish up. Believe it or not, that little half cup of ice cream satisfies me. If I took a cereal bowl and only put a half cup of ice cream in it, it would look empty. I would eat the ice cream in only one or two bites and feel dissatisfied. The size of the dish means a lot. The bigger the dish you use at dinner, the more you will eat. Your dish has to look full to satisfy you.
Holidays are diet killers, but we can get through them. Portion control is a lot of it. Thanksgiving is this Thursday. I am cooking it. I do plan on eating it too. It won’t be difficult to fill up my plate. So many different things to put on it. I will do my best to eat a lot of Turkey, a small amount of mashed potatoes and gravy. I do think sweet potatoes are good for you as is the Brussels Sprouts. I will avoid the corn, don’t need it and will eat only one roll. Oh, and do not forget the dressing. Again, only a small amount. When it comes to the pumpkin and chocolate pies, well, that will be my problem. I am making no promises there other than no more than one piece each.
Happy Holidays everyone. We have lots more coming. Hope I can get through it.

Why We Fail At Burning Fat
When I get up in the early hours, first thing I do as I am dressing for the day is step on my scale. The truth hits me day after day. It can be good or bad. Depends on how good or bad I have been at following my own advice.
It gets discouraging if the scale doesn’t move in the directions you are wanting it to or if you never see any difference in your body appearance. Even if the scale is going down, if you continue to see rolls of fat on your stomach area, you aren’t going to feel good about yourself. How do you burn fat that is so stubborn? Seems like your face thins down, your arms and legs get thinner, but your stomach is still fat.
The fact that your weight is going down and you can see some results is good. You most likely are also feeling better and maybe getting a little more active as you lose the weight.
If you are not seeing changes or if your clothing isn’t feeling like it’s getting looser, then you aren’t going to feel like continuing your diet to burn fat. You have been working hard at it, sticking to your routine of exercise and avoiding the bad foods, but you still feel fat.
This is a very discouraging time but, if you can pull through it without giving up, you are still well on your way to a better you. You will burn fat off those stubborn areas if you keep it up. If you are feeling discouraged, go ahead and splurge a little. Eat some desert or something else you have been craving. Just don’t over eat really bad. Even if you do, tomorrow your metabolism will be speeding a bit faster. If you return to your diet type eating, you will burn a lot of calories without trying. Your energy level could be much higher too. A diet day after a splurge day could be really good to do.
Don’t throw in the towel and call it quits. If you aren’t losing weight, you may need to re-evaluate your diet and see where you could be going wrong. If you don’t figure out what it is you aren’t doing right, you will end up giving up like a lot of people do.
When dieting, remember, those pounds didn’t appear in only a few days, or even a few months. It usually takes years of overeating unless you aren’t very overweight. Then it’s good you have started to try and lose before you get to far over weight.
Remember your goals. They are very important. But remember we are all human too and will make mistakes. You will have days that you simply just have to eat something that you typically do not allow yourself. As I said before, go ahead and eat. Just get back on your diet routine the next day. If you continue to eat what you want for a number of days, that isn’t as good, but you can still get back on your diet. You may feel a little disappointed in yourself, but you will feel better once you see the results start up again. Sometimes it takes a little back sliding to get up and be motivated again.
You are not alone in this. There’s a world full of people having the same weight issues you are. Keep motivated and you will earn the final reward, a more fit and leaner you.

Need to Loose Weight and Burn Fat
Have you ever listened to how people talk about the overweight people? How they criticized them without really even knowing them. I hear remarks sometimes when I am out to eat. Maybe a person who is over weight is sitting in one of the booths eating an ice cream sundae. Remarks like, “that’s the last thing they need. “ Why is an overweight person looked at as they should not let anything sweet pass through their lips. If they are eating french fries, hearing things like, “now I see why they are fat.” It makes me wonder what people could be saying about me even though I am just a few pounds over weight. Why do we judge people so harshly.
It does encourage me to loose weight and learn how to burn fat instead of watching it form on my figure as I grow older. People who are highly overweight sometimes don’t really understand what a proper diet consist of. Maybe their parents were the same way and it is a life style they accepted. Or it could be they have no choice.
Being over weight is no fun. Even extremely overweight people may be able to lessen their weight by adding just a daily walk to their routine. Please start off slow and only a short while. Most likely it will be hard on you and could be hard on your heart to try and do too much to start with. A lot of times, everything a person eats goes to the hips, or it feels that way because they aren’t active enough to burn fat.
Sometimes just getting up out of a chair can become hard for some. If you are letting yourself fall victim to not being able to do stuff to burn off the fat, then you are also shortening your life. Your heart needs some activity. You need to find someway to push yourself if at all possible.
It is wrong to label people. I totally disagree with just seeing someone and labeling them. I do know some overweight people that I would like to get to take walks and try and help them because I do know the circumstances a bit more.
Most people who are overweight don’t want to be. It happened to them while they weren’t really paying a lot of attention to things, maybe depressed, sick and unable to care for themselves. Or when they were young and just grew up that way. There are so many reasons for being overweight other than just over eating. A lot of people who are overweight don’t really eat that much.
To burn fat, you need to move. Do anything you can to get started. If it’s just walking out to the mailbox and back, that may be more than the usual amount of exercise you get. There are exercises you can do in a chair too that may get you started. Just doing cheer type movements with your arms would be good.
I know all of this can be difficult. If any of it is possible, you could burn fat, and have a better quality of life. Don’t worry about trying to be a size 10 someday. It’s not all that it’s made out to be. Take one step at a time. Make goals you can meet, trying to get to a size 10 could be more discouraging than helpful.
I want everyone to live a long healthy life. Being overweight takes a lot away from life. Many may never be able to obtain a weight loss. Sometimes you just have to learn to live with what God has given you and we are also told not to judge others.
