How Do I Burn Fat?
I am tired of being overweight. I hear commercials all the time telling me about new products to use to help me burn fat. To get that perfect body. My butt is too big, my stomach pooches out and I just feel so slouchy. Next thing I guess will the that ugly cellulite I see so many people with. Do I have to adjust to this weight gain as I age? Why bother with it. Maybe I should just enjoy life.
I know sometimes that is how we all feel. Loosing weight can be such a challenge and there are many proven ways to loose it, but you have to find the way the works for you. You want to burn more calories and not have to eat less. Shape that body in to the hour glass figure. Well, there are really very few hour glass figures. We also have to be realistic. Maybe the body we were born in is not able to be an hour glass.
We can loose the love handles, the flabby underarms, the belly can get a little flatter but maybe never like the washboard you see on the commercials.
A good start is go write down what you eat daily for about a week. Now don’t leave out things you don’t want others to see you ate. Make this list your own personal diary. You aren’t competing with anyone else. It is nice to have a diet/exercise partner but you don’t have to share everything. Just having someone to talk to and work out with is fun and knowing you both have a similar goal is nice.
After looking over the list of foods you eat over the week, you may actually see some flaws. Along with what you eat, make a note of the time you ate it. Then you will be able to recognize maybe a need for a daily nutritious snack at that time each day. It could be your breakfast or lunch just isn’t making it far enough to get to the next meal. That’s when candy and pop machines come more into focus and the change comes out of the pocket. Not a good thing. Keeping apples or grapes around for a mid break snack is a very good idea. Sometimes small cubes of cheese can help a lot too.
You need energy. To get energy you need food. So don’t starve yourself. When you work out, you are burning the foods and drinks you have taken in. If you don’t burn these off, they go to your hips, belly or wherever else you are having a problem with weight. If you starve yourself, your body will consume itself. Maybe you think this is a good thing, but it doesn’t really sound very good to me at all.
When you eat less, you don’t always loose weight because your body can adjust its metabolic rate to use less energy and keep the same amount of fat. If you starve yourself, for a very long time, you will eventually loose weight. First you will loose the carbohydrates and glycogen. After that fat that is under the skin will start going away and the fat that surrounds your organs. Next your muscles start loosing protein that breaks down into glucose so that your brain keeps working right. Otherwise you may become unconscious. This is maybe where the first three letters of diet come from. You are killing your body.
Instead of killing your body, why not nourish it with the proper foods and exercise a bit. Do you know that walking burns a lot of calories? You don’t have to work extremely hard or run a marathon to loose weight. Fat burning kicks in while doing a slow continuous pace or after 90 minutes. Walking is a good way to burn fat and tone muscle at the same time.
So maybe it’s time to check out what you are eating, cut back on carbohydrates a little, and add a bit of exercise to your day. You may be surprised and see that figure you want and can obtain start looking back at you in the mirror and not be miserable in the process.
If you have a dog, maybe taking it for a daily walk would be something that you both will find enjoyable. Plus a little more dependable of a partner than sometimes a friend or spouse may be. Did you ever see a dog turn down a walk.
Now let’s get started on a new you.
